Hook Peninsula Amateur Photography Competition 2026

Celebrating the memorable beauty of the Hook Peninsula, County Wexford

1. Theme

Entrants are invited to submit photographs capturing anything memorable about the Hook

Peninsula — its people, landscapes, wildlife, heritage, or atmosphere — as experienced by the photographer.

2. Eligibility and Categories

Entrants will be divided into the following categories:

1. Junior (Under 16 years old)

2. Adult Amateur (16 years and over)

Each entrant may only compete in one category.

3. Entry Period

All submitted photographs must have been taken between January 1st and August 31st, 2026. The closing date for entries is August 31st, 2026, at midnight. Entries received after this date will not be considered.

4. Submission Guidelines

Each entrant may submit up to three (3) photographs.

Entries must be submitted by email to: hook-photo-comp@proton.me

Each image must:

• Be in JPG format

• Quality set to highest available

• Include entrant’s name, age category, title, and date taken in the email.

Example format:

Name: Jane Murphy

Category: Adult Amateur

Image Title: “Evening Light at Hook Head”Date Taken: 15 March 2026

5. Originality and Image Integrity

All photographs must be the original work of the entrant. AI-generated, AI-enhanced, or composite images are not permitted. Images must not be significantly altered or manipulated in post-processing software. Basic adjustments (e.g., cropping, exposure,

contrast, sharpening, and minor colour correction) are acceptable. Entrants must be able to provide the original, unedited file if requested by the judges.

6. Judging

Entries will be judged by a panel of three experienced photographers appointed by the organisers. Judging criteria include composition, originality, technical quality, and expression of the theme. The judges’ decisions are final and binding.

7. Prizes

Three winners will be selected in each category (First, Second, Third). Each winner will receive an A3 print of their winning image. Adults will receive vouchers donated by local businesses in the Hook Peninsula region, and Junior winners will be invited to a one-day photo skills workshop. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

8. Copyright and Usage Rights

Copyright remains with the photographer. By entering, participants grant Hook Tourism a

non-exclusive licence to use their images on the HRT website, social media and in local press coverge. Any image used will always be credited to the photographer.

9. General Conditions

Hook Rural Tourism CLG accepts no liability for any content submitted by third parties.

Entrants shall be liable to Hook Tourism for any loss or damage caused by misrepresenting their entitlement to submit a photograph for entry in the Competition.

You warrant to us that all contributions are lawful and do not infringe any rights of any third party and that you will indemnify us in respect of any breach of that warranty.

Entrants must have obtained permission to photograph identifiable people, private property, or restricted locations. The organisers accept no liability for any loss, damage, or claim arising from entry into the competition. Submission of an entry implies acceptance of these rules and conditions.

Hook Tourism reserves the right to change the prize and/or prizes without notice. All prizes are subject to availability.
