1170 Norman Festival

Sunday 9th August 2026 Starting at 2pm.

Hook Tourism are delighted to announce that the 1170 Norman festival will be held at Fethard Castle on Sunday 9th August 2026.

‘At the creek of Baginbun, Ireland was lost and won’ is well remembered here in Wexford. It refers to the Normans’ victory over the local forces who fought them on their arrival in Baginbun in 1170. Arguably, one of the most significant events in Irish history.

There is an action packed schedule which will also include a Norman Re-enactment group, Dunbrody Archery display, Medieval games and Live Music among many others.

This is a great event for the locals of the area, historical societies and heritage groups and families of Norman heritage, plus the curious amongst you…

Stalls for Fethard Castle welcome, email events@hooktourism.com for details and to book your spot.

Tickets for the ticketed events are available through Eventbrite below or in the Fethard Tourist Office. If these are sold out, do come along to the door as there may be availability.

Ticketed events are in St Mogue’s Church.
