Let the Hook Peninsula help you entertain your little people… Enjoy traditional family days on one of our many sheltered beaches, release their inner pirate at Hook Lighthouse’s Pirate weekend each July or take a short trip off the peninsula to visit south east Ireland’s award winning wildlife park, Secret Valley.
With footie golf, crazy golf, yew hedge mazes and woodland walks all available on the Peninsula your family will never be bored. When some Irish showers come down take a trip into our neighbouring towns where bowling, soft play and activity centres are on offer.
Light up your day at Hook Lighthouse, 800 years of light keeping. One of the Oldest Lighthouses in the World, a favourite with Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor. Marking the entrance to Waterford Harbour at the mouth of the Three Sisters river system for over 800 years.
With one of the most comprehensive displays of farming and rural life in the country, the Irish Agricultural Museum and Johnstown Castle Gardens make a wonderful day out for all the family – whatever the weather.
This is a magnificent park showcasing plants of international standing with 4,500 types of trees and shrubs from all temperate regions of the world. There is also a fine Visitor Centre, displays a permanent exhibition on the life and achievements of the late President John F. Kennedy. For our visitors we also have pleasant Tearooms, a terrific Playground and a picnic area, a miniature railway (seasonal), a variety of signposted walks and a pony and trap service.
